Republican Convention on May 8 (We’re looking for volunteers)

Your precinct may be having an election. Please read the following information carefully to determine if this applies to you. There are six (of 18) precincts in Lynchburg holding a Republican primary to decide who will become the Republcian candidate on the November ballot for the 22nd seat of the Virginia House of Delegates in Richmond. The Lynchburg registrar’s office will be open starting today to accept early walk-in voting.

This primary only applies to people who normally vote in the locations listed below, however the locations listed below are NOT OPEN today. ONLY THE REGISTRAR'S OFFICE IS OPEN FOR EARLY VOTING STARTING TODAY. The registrar’s address where you can early vote is 825 Kemper Street, Kemper Street Station, Suite A, Lynchburg, VA 24501. (This location is also known as the upper level of the train station.) This will continue, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until Friday June 4. The office will be open only two Saturday, May 29 and June 5 also from 9-5. Curbside voting is offered at this location too.

Because of a few limited situations in the last election where someone came to vote on Election Day and they were told that their ballot had already been cast, we encourage you to vote in-person early to prevent this. In addition, if you request an absentee ballot by mail, there are drop boxes available at your precinct location, but we discourage you from using these because of a broken chain of custody and risk of theft to your ballot.

Primary Election Day will be held on June 8, 2021.

All other Lynchburg precincts are within Del. Wendell Walker’s (website) district. He was unchallenged in the Republican primary. Only the Democrats will be holding a statewide primary across all precincts and are choosing their side of the ticket for the statewide general election this fall. Republican statewide candidates will be chosen by convention. The general election will be held on Nov 2, 2021.
